Packing

Having the right bags and packing accessories can make your travels much more organized and less frustrating! I’ve gone through quite a few different suitcases and backpacks over my years of travel and I’ve discovered which features and designs matter the most to me. Here are a few of the products that I’m currently using and some suggestions I have when you’re picking them out for yourself.

Backpacks

WANDRD PRVKE 31L & 21L – Both Matt and I use this as our main travel/camera bag. It has a laptop sleeve, an expandable roll top, and removable camera storage, making it super versatile for whatever you want to carry. It also has a clamshell opening which gives fast access to everything inside and makes airport security a breeze.

Kånken No. 2 Laptop 15 – I really love the look of this backpack and due to its shape it can carry way more stuff than you’d think just by looking at it. It also comes in lots of cute colours and can fit a 15” laptop. This is the perfect backpack for those that don’t need to carry a bunch of camera gear with them, as it’s water resistant and super durable.

Satchels

Ona Bowery – I’ve had two of these Ona shoulder bags and I absolutely love them. They’re just the right size to carry a small camera and my daily essentials. They’re made with good quality materials and come in different colours/designs.

Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L – This is the bag Matt uses when he doesn’t need to take his big backpack. It fits our camera with a couple lenses, some spare batteries, and a few other accessories. It’s a good quality bag and is pretty water resistant for those rainy days.

Suitcases

July Checked – July has quickly become our favourite new brand for suitcases. Materials, wheels, and construction are all top notch. This model has a huge 80L capacity even though it only weighs 8.3 pounds. And the german polycarbonate shell with aluminum corner bumpers means you’re not sacrificing strength for it to be lightweight.

July Carry On – This is my go-to bag when I need a smaller size. I prefer hard sized luggage since it offers a bit more protection to the contents of my bag. I love that this one has an easy access battery bank so I can plug my phone right into my suitcase when I’m waiting for my flight. It also has great durability, super smooth wheels, and a nice organization system inside.

Organization

Packing cubes – There are so many different sizes and types of packing cubes. You can get cubes with 2 separate compartments to separate the clean and dirty laundry, and some even have compression zippers to squeeze your clothes together and save room. They’re an organizer’s dream!

Toiletry bag – My biggest requirements for a toiletry bag are that it’s waterproof and that it has a hook to hang it from. You never know when your shampoo bottle might decide leak everywhere. And depending on where you’re staying, you might not have enough counter space for it to sit on. So hang it from the hook!
