Rotorua to Maraehako Bay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So today was the beginning of my 3 day <strong>Go East<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.straytravel.com\"><strong>Stray <\/strong><\/a>trip to the east coast of New Zealand, the apparently sunniest part in the whole country. However, New Zealand much like the rest of the world is suffering from an odd change of weather this season. Much like Europe \u2018s been having the coldest winter ever, Canada\u2019s west coast the warmest, and here in New Zealand, the rainiest summer. I guess that\u2019s global warming for yea, get ready for different climates.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Enterance to the East Cape\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/4449023319\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2726\/4449023319_3cc40fabc4.jpg\" alt=\"Enterance to the East Cape\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today we drove from<strong> Rotorua<\/strong> to <strong>Maraehako Bay <\/strong>via the <em>Pacific Highway 35<\/em>, this beautiful beach drive along the coast\u00a0 filled with some spectacular views! This drive is rated in the <em>AA Guides\u2019s top 101 things to do when in New Zealand<\/em> , and I defiantly don\u2019t disagree.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Me and Gina\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/4449799210\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2797\/4449799210_1f18d543d7.jpg\" alt=\"Me and Gina\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"View from the Top\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/4449800328\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4006\/4449800328_a9d1d07406.jpg\" alt=\"View from the Top\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For our accommodations we stayed at the <em>Maraehako Bay Retreat ,<\/em> a cozy beach front hostel right on the ocean. It was literally the epitome of the perfect beach house complete with oyster shell stairways!<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Maraehako Bay Retreat\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/4449800730\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4072\/4449800730_66e617f07c.jpg\" alt=\"Maraehako Bay Retreat\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Maraehako Bay Retreat 2\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/4449025555\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2790\/4449025555_568eff6044.jpg\" alt=\"Maraehako Bay Retreat 2\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We had the option of doing free kayaking that afternoon, and of course I went because I love free things, especially free kayaking .<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Kayak Peace\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/4449806594\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4070\/4449806594_e97e4f8101.jpg\" alt=\"Kayak Peace\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Kayaking\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/4449031737\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4044\/4449031737_f24d14e6bd.jpg\" alt=\"Kayaking\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Kayak shh\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/4449032703\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2703\/4449032703_30e3c8bb79.jpg\" alt=\"Kayak shh\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I call this &#8220;Sexy Kayak&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Even though we just paddled around the bay, my British friend Gina and I found this cove and decided to paddle into it thinking it was a lot bigger than it was.
