I love them and always want to visit them, yet I feel like I can never really cover them decently. Because, let\u2019s be honest, temples, which are beautiful, regal, and of historic significance, can be quite a dry topic. In videos they can seem lifeless. Even though in all honestly, they are not. They are rich, important, spectacular and full of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Also, I\u00a0never have enough time to listen to all the details the tour guides provide, and they are quite extensive as they really do know their history!<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30400\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30400\" style=\"width: 940px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Ball-Courts.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30400 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Ball-Courts-1024x643.jpg\" alt=\"Ball Courts\" width=\"940\" height=\"590\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30400\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ball Court, which was the location for the ancient mayan ritualistic game of \u014cllamaliztli. When played, human sacrifice was offered up to the gods by the winners! (maybe it doesn&#8217;t suck to be a sore looser after all?)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The intricate\u00a0details of these grand buildings\u00a0are simply\u00a0remarkable, even compared to some of the top new skyscrapers and technological advances of the modern world. To ancient civilizations <b>Chichen Itza<\/b> must have been an other worldly \u00a0experience. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Chichen-Itza-21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-30401\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Chichen-Itza-21-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Chichen Itza-2\" width=\"940\" height=\"626\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Chichen-Itza1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-30402\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Chichen-Itza1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Chichen Itza\" width=\"940\" height=\"626\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Well if there is one thing I must say, it is how excited I am about ticking off <strong>number 5 <\/strong>off my<strong> New 7 Wonders of the World bucket list<\/strong>. I now only have two more left and boy am I motivated to tick \u00a0those off. <em>(Taj Mahal in India and Petra in Jordan are my last two.)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30391\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30391\" style=\"width: 940px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30391 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Chichen-Itza-3-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Chichen Itza 3\" width=\"940\" height=\"626\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30391\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Me and the Vagabrothers outside the El Castillo, or the Kukulkan Pyramid a UNESCO world heritage site. It has 365 steps, one for each day of the year!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Another thing I discover on my <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Viator <\/span>trip was what a <b>cenote <\/b>was. Giant sinkholes you can drink from, swim in and even scuba dive through.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Apparently there are hundreds of these scattered all around the <strong>Yucat\u00e1n Peninsula<\/strong> here in Mexico. <b>Ik kil cenote<\/b> being the first I visited was a great taster: adventure, natural wonder and just a bit of magical mystery.
