WELL, that might have been so on the <strong>Yasawa Islands<\/strong> and <a title=\"Fiji: Giving In and Giving Back\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/fiji-giving-giving-back\/\">on the first part of our trip<\/a>, but I&#8217;m here to show you another side of Fiji: <strong>the adrenaline, action packed adventure side!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29679\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29679\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Sigatoka-River-Safari-Sigatoka-Fiji.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29679 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Sigatoka-River-Safari-Sigatoka-Fiji-1024x692.jpg\" alt=\"Sigatoka River Safari- Sigatoka, Fiji\" width=\"620\" height=\"418\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29679\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kristen and I on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sigatokariver.com \" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sigatoka River Safari.<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Kristen and I love exploring caves so we jumped at the opportunity to see the largest cave in Fiji:\u00a0<strong>Naihehe Cave. <\/strong>Although m<span class=\"s1\">arred in a dark history full of cannibalism, <\/span>Naihehe Cave\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">was also used as safe harbour to hide women and children from attacking tribes during a civil war.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Caves-Sigatoka-River-Safari-Sigatoka-Fiji-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-29669\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Caves-Sigatoka-River-Safari-Sigatoka-Fiji-2-1024x616.jpg\" alt=\"Caves, Sigatoka River Safari- Sigatoka, Fiji-2\" width=\"620\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Naihehe\u00a0also contains a 400m underwater cavern that only two people in the entire world have explored. Two American divers were given permission from the local tribe&#8217;s chief to dive under and take photos. What they saw were walls covered\u00a0in gemstones and three eels swimming above the water. They took photos and today the only copies of those photos can been seen in the local chief&#8217;s house.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-29670\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Caves-Sigatoka-River-Safari-Sigatoka-Fiji-1024x692.jpg\" alt=\"Caves, Sigatoka River Safari- Sigatoka, Fiji\" width=\"620\" height=\"418\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><em>To travel is to eat.\u00a0<\/em><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">The perfect way to try the local dishes is to cook then via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavoursoffiji.com%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Flavours of Fiji Cooking School.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Here we cooked and prepared <strong>3<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>traditional Fijian dishes, <\/strong>and<strong> 2 Indian dishes.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Fiji-Cooking.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29776 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Fiji-Cooking-1024x622.jpg\" alt=\"Fiji-Cooking\" width=\"620\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">(bottom left to right)<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Fijian Selection:\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Vudi Vakasoso:<\/b> Local Plantain simmered in freshly grated coconut infused with cane sugar.<\/li>\n<li><b>Ika Vakalolo: <\/b>Lightly fried fish simmered in rich coconut milk, local cabbage, tomatoes and onions.<\/li>\n<li><b>Rourou<\/b><strong>:<\/strong> Taro leaves steamed and infused with onion, tomatoes, garlic &amp; chilli.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Indian Selection:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Bindhi Curry: <\/b>Spicy Bindhi (Ocra) curry infused with fragrant herbs &amp; spices.<\/li>\n<li><b>Roti: <\/b>Traditional Indian Flat Bread<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">For one of our nights in Fiji we got to spend it on a cruise ship, with<span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluelagooncruises.com\u00a0%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Blue Lagoon Cruises<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0Overnight we cruised in style from the<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<strong>Yasawa Islands<\/strong> back to <strong>Port Denarau.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Fiji Video #3: <span style=\"color: #000000;\">CANNIBAL CAVE, Sigatoka<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">httpvh:\/\/youtu.be\/qTsOBQOnYUU<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Discover-Fiji-Tours-Fiji.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-29674\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Discover-Fiji-Tours-Fiji-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Discover Fiji Tours- Fiji\" width=\"620\" height=\"620\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Hiking in bare feet through the mud&#8212;yup that happened.\u00a0I came ill prepared for a 2 hours hike up and down the mountain side. (You think I would have learned my lesson from <a title=\"Dealing with photo taking anxiety :  Sacred Valley to Macchu Picchu\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/dealing-with-photo-taking-anxiety-sacred-valley-to-macchu-picchu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Machu Picchu trip<\/a>) <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">However, once we got to the beautiful cascading\u00a0waterfall at the end of our hike,\u00a0I forgot all about the sore feet. <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29686\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29686\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Waterfall-Discover-Fiji-Tours-Fiji.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29686 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Waterfall-Discover-Fiji-Tours-Fiji-642x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Waterfall, Discover Fiji Tours- Fiji\" width=\"620\" height=\"988\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29686\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Spectacular waterfalls on my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverfijitours.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Discover Fiji Tour.<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">After rejuvenating my feet in the cool fresh water, we proceeded back to \u00a0<strong>Namosi Village<\/strong> where we participated in a<strong> traditional Kava ceremony.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s7\"><strong>Kava<\/strong>, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">also known as Piper Methysticum, is a shrub in the pepper family that grows in Fiji. The root is ground\u00a0down and made into a ceremonial beverage that contains sedative<span style=\"color: #252525;\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>anesthetic<span style=\"color: #252525;\">\u00a0properties<\/span>\u00a0. It is supposed to be <\/span><span class=\"s7\">for treatment of anxiety and a way to relax, oh and it also makes your mouth go numb.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Next up on our adventures was\u00a0<strong>white water rafting<\/strong> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.riversfiji.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rivers Fiji.<\/a>\u00a0 A 5 hours long trip through cavernous gorges that seemed like something out of Lord of the Rings movie. It was raining for most of the trip but we didn\u2019t mind, we were getting wet anyways from the splashing water.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29777\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29777\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/uprising.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29777 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/uprising-1024x618.jpg\" alt=\"uprising\" width=\"620\" height=\"374\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29777\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Beachfront Bar at Uprising Beach Resort.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\">For a few nights we stayed at the <a href=\"http:\/\/uprisingbeachresort.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Uprising Beach Resort<\/a>, a great place for adventure seekers, backpackers and villa lovers alike. Their accommodation varies from private rooms to hostel dorms for the budget conscious traveler. We were there at off season, so the place wasn\u2019t to busy,\u00a0but during peak season\u00a0Uprising\u00a0sure does throw some great beach parties!!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s7\">Last to top off our adventure filled few days was\u00a0zip lining with\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/zip-fiji.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\">ZipFiji <\/span><\/a><span class=\"s7\">.\u00a0Nothing better that zipping through the rainforest\u00a0and over the canopy, all while doing flips and twists along the way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Talk about <em><strong>ADVENTURE!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For our final evening it was a quick sleep at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rafflesgateway.com,%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Raffles Gateway<\/a>, a very funky, Vegas looking hotel perfectly position near the airport.
