So for those of you venturing out to this popular\u00a0destination, here are<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"> <strong>6 Things You Should Know When Visiting the Grand Canyon.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>If you travel during winter, it can snow.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This came as a major surprise to me since I never pictured Arizona in snow. Snow can\u00a0happen, and when it does, a lot of things can get cancelled and postponed. If it snows, visibility at the\u00a0canyon can be poor, ice will prevent you from\u00a0doing hikes if you don&#8217;t have proper ice clamps on your shoes, and helicopters will not take off. \u00a0Snow doesn&#8217;t always turn out bad,\u00a0but just be aware that this might happen if you plan to go during the winter time.<\/p>\n<dl class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 510px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a title=\"Grand Canyon, Arizona | USA-9\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/13516570085\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7349\/13516570085_0c961967f5.jpg\" alt=\"Grand Canyon, Arizona | USA-9\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">Mather Point Lookout, South Rim<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>Plan your hikes or\u00a0types of hikes you want to do<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You must be very realistic\u00a0with yourself and your fitness level. There are tons of hiking trials designed for hikers of each level and of various length. Don&#8217;t over due it or push yourself to\u00a0hard, you don&#8217;t know the conditions and there are a lot of factors that can alter your performance.<\/p>\n<p>It is almost impossible to make it from the rim of the canyon to the bottom of the canyon and back in a day. So don&#8217;t think about it. If you wish to hike and stay overnight, you will need a permit.<\/p>\n<p><em>Visit \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/grca\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/grca\/index.htm<\/a>\u00a0for more info on the park and obtaining hiking permits.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5331\/13517002414_e19a816769.jpg\" alt=\"Grand Canyon, Arizona | USA-8\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>The Grand Canyon is actually very grand.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are two main tourist\u00a0hubs\u00a0to visit the canyon from: \u00a0The<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">\u00a0North Rim<\/span><\/strong><\/span>, which<span style=\"color: #252525;\">\u00a0is smaller, more remote, and has less tourist activity. And the <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>South Rim<\/strong><\/span>, which contains the majority of the hotels, campgrounds, stores and visitor activities in the Grand Canyon National Park. The South Rim is where I\u00a0stayed when we visited and I highly recommend it\u00a0if your a first timer.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a title=\"Grand Canyon, Arizona | USA-10\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33736956@N08\/13516649183\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2902\/13516649183_5d6495d505.jpg\" alt=\"Grand Canyon, Arizona | USA-10\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mather Point Lookout, South Rim.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>Helicopters are very\u00a0<\/strong><b>temperamental.<\/b><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Plan for extra time in the canyon if you wish to take a helicopter ride because weather \u00a0delays can and will happen. It&#8217;s all free once your in the park, and it can take you from your hotel and lodge, to the lookouts, restaurants, grocery store, visitor centre, campgrounds, and more.
