Like how in China, they pay A LOT of attention to street cleaning. In Thailand, watermelon shakes are THE best fruit shakes. <em>(better than strawberry)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So en route to <strong>Amarillo, Texas<\/strong> on my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.contiki.com\/destinations\/usa-canada\/tours\/24-southern-adventure-start-new-orleans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Contiki Holidays Tour<\/a>\u00a0we stopped by a fun place called <strong>Cadillac Ranch\u00a0<\/strong>;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong> A\u00a0public art installation where visitors are free to come and spray paint to their hearts desire. You can bring your own cans but usually there are a few half full ones\u00a0laying around for you to use. A seriously fun and unique pit stop on your way through Texas.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/p\/jwR8vJHEX9\/media?size=l\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">With my leather jacket I fit right in with all the spray paint.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Big Texan Ranch<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29014\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29014\" style=\"width: 1970px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-29014\" style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" alt=\"Longhorn Ranch, Texas\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Longhorn-Ranch-Texas.jpg\" width=\"1970\" height=\"1313\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29014\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Longhorn Ranch: our lodgings, across from the Big Texan Steak House.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One thing has become very apparent from my first few days spent in Texas: <strong>they love their beef.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So much so that as a group we got to participate in the <a href=\"http:\/\/bigtexan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Big Texan<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><strong>72oz steak challenge<\/strong>. \u00a0<em>(As seen on Man vs. Food, I love that show!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now let me tell you the detail of this challenge, you must eat:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-29013 alignright\" style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" alt=\"steak\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/steak.jpeg\" width=\"260\" height=\"194\" \/><\/p>\n<p>[checklist]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a 72 oz steak<\/li>\n<li>baked potato<\/li>\n<li>roll<\/li>\n<li>3 fried shrimp<\/li>\n<li>and a salad, \u00a0all within 1 hour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/checklist]<\/p>\n<p>If you succeed, you get your meal for free. If you fail, you pay $72 for the meal. You cannot get up at any point and should you need to &#8220;relieve yourself&#8221;, \u00a0 well you are just out of luck.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The fastest time on record is 8 minutes<\/strong> held by the world hotdog eating champion. Two of our fellow Contiki tour members Matt and James decided to take on this challenge. Matt made it a good 15 minutes before throwing in the towel. It was honesty a stellar effort, far better than I could have done. James struggled through 45 minutes before the &#8220;bucket&#8221; was called, and his dreams of steak fame were over. James did however continue eating the steak AND managed to finished the whole meal under the 1 hour, he was just disqualified.<\/p>\n<p>Now this monumental task isn&#8217;t impossible, one hearty Texas man jumped up onto the table to try the challenge for himself shortly after our Contiki members started.
