So this is my first time to Australia and since I had an extra day in Cairns before the start of my Beaches and Reefs Contiki Tour<\/a>, I took a day trip up to Cape Tribulation<\/strong> to see the Daintree Rainforest!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Daintree Rainforest<\/h2>\n

At over 135 million years old, the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest as the oldest rainforest in the world!<\/p>\n

Daintree River Cruise<\/h2>\n

After our 45 minute walk through the rainforest we hopped onto a boat for a cruise along the Daintree River.\u00a0 There we had the opportunity to search out some crocodiles. Unfortunately, we were in the wet season, which is the wrong season for crocodiles, who generally prefer the dry season when the river is lower.<\/p>\n

Now I didn’t realize how territorial crocodiles are, the section of the river we cruised through was governed by a crocodile called Scar-Face.\u00a0 Unfortunately we did not see him, we did however see a baby crocodile on the banks. I would show you a picture but, it was so small it just looked like a branch.<\/p>\n

Daintree Discovery Centre<\/h2>\n

Another stop on our day trip was at the Daintree Discovery Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Daintree Discovery Centre is an award-winning world class interpretive facility that allows visitors easy access to this unique rainforest wilderness via boardwalk tours, a 23 metre high Canopy Tower, Aerial Walkway and comprehensive Display Centre.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Cape Tribulation<\/h2>\n

Now to the cream of the crop.<\/p>\n

Cape Tribulation is in the heart of the Daintree Rainforest, home to some of the oldest rainforest on the planet, and this Word Heritage listed rainforest is adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef.\u00a0 [ Source]<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Cape Tribulation is so significant because it is the only place in the world where two World Heritage areas meet: The Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.<\/p>\n
