The first time was actually last time I was in New Zealand, but instead of hiking I was<a title=\"Ice Age\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/ice-age\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> ice climbing the Franz Josef Glacier.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7030\/6832692249_1c3fa052e4_b.jpg\" alt=\"Fox Glacier, New Zealand\" width=\"606\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The major difference between the two options were:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>A helicopter ride.<\/strong> This was my first experience in a helicopter and I seriously cannot recommend it more! Flying above the glacier is just out of this world.<\/li>\n<li>Because you are flown up on a helicopter you are at a higher part of the glacier and therefore you are able to see more of the spectacular <strong>dark blue ice caves.<\/strong> Formed because the ice is so dense it absorbs the orange light wave lengths and scatters the blue light wave lengths, giving it those rich colours.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ice Climbing is climbing.<\/strong> It is hard work and not for everyone. While I find climbing rather enjoyable, you do spend less time taking photos and exploring the glacier with the ice climbing option.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7006\/6832690273_2932ba4be8_b.jpg\" alt=\"Fox Glacier, New Zealand\" width=\"607\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.static.flickr.com\/7167\/6832696721_234b208a42_b.jpg\" alt=\"Fox Glacier, New Zealand\" width=\"605\" height=\"906\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Queenstown<\/h2>\n<p>After our ice-adventures on the Fox Glacier were complete, we jumped back into the bus and made our way into Queenstown. Where we then hoped onto a gondola to take us up to the\u00a0<a title=\"Skyline Resturant\" href=\"http:\/\/www.skyline.co.nz\/queenstown\/restaurant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Skyline Restaurant<\/a> for a 6 course buffet complete with every type of kiwi foods you could imagine.
