{"id":25663,"date":"2012-01-24T04:46:22","date_gmt":"2012-01-24T12:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/?p=25663"},"modified":"2012-01-24T04:46:22","modified_gmt":"2012-01-24T12:46:22","slug":"bay-islands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/heynadine.com\/new\/bay-islands\/","title":{"rendered":"Bay of Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome!<\/p>\n<p>So I have officially started my first <strong><a title=\"Contiki Global Partnership Announcement\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/contiki-global-partnership-announcement\/\">Contiki Tour: New Zealand Grand Explorer,<\/a> <\/strong>15 days of travel around both North and South Island New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Although I have traveled throughout New Zealand quite extensively, I never seem to lose that sense of wonder that only comes from visiting a place for the first time. Bay of Islands is one of those places that\u00a0I was simply blown away by.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Bay of Islands-2.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Bay-of-Islands-2.jpg\" alt=\"Bay of Islands 2\" width=\"600\" height=\"383\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Referred to as the birthplace of New Zealand, Bay of Islands is where Captain Cook and the first European settlers landed in New Zealand back in the 1700&#8217;s, and, where New Zealand&#8217;s founding document, the <a title=\"Treaty of Waitangi\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nzhistory.net.nz\/category\/tid\/133\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Treaty of Waitangi<\/strong><\/a>, was signed between the British Crown and the Maori people of New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Present day, the Bay of Islands is used by most kiwis as a summer home and as a very popular vacation spot.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Bay of Islands-4.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Bay-of-Islands-4.jpg\" alt=\"Bay of Islands 4\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last time I traveled up north to visit <strong>Paihia<\/strong> I did a <a title=\"Bay of Islands Trip Day 3- Paihia back to Auckland\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heynadine.com\/bay-of-islands-trip-day-3-paihia-back-to-auckland\/\">Horse Treking tour<\/a> and I never got a chance to venture out onto the water.
