Tuscany, Tuscany, Tuscany. Picture in your head everything that would describe Italy: green countryside, rolling hills, wineries, wine, cobblestone streets, churches, cheese, anti-pasta and pasta. CHECK!
All of this and more was to be spotted on my Viator : Tuscany in One Day Sightseeing Tour from Rome.

Montepulciano
Our first stop was the Medieval/Renaissance town of Montepulciano. It sits high on a limestone ridge with narrow streets and stone houses everywhere.
Amanda oh so nicely informed me that the second twilight movie was shot here, the Volturi’s place of residence (if you watch the movie).
Here we are standing in the middle of Twilight Square, which is really just the town’s main piazza.
Also, can I please just point out the amazingness of this car. How the italians drive on these tiny, hillside “roads” is honestly beyond me.
Montalcino
Lunch time! Our stop was in Montalcino at a traditional Italian wine cellar: POGGIO IL CASTELLARE. All the wines we tasted were from the Montepulciano and Montalcino region. Seriously cannot express my joy in wine tasting, and also my regret as I love wine, too much, and we still had a whole other town to visit. O dear…
Pienza
After wine tasting our last stop was at Pienza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was a rather…enjoyable one. Talk about a storybook typical Italian town. Flowers adorned all the shops and window sills, plus narrow cobble street proved perfect for skipping and um….not falling on.
I kid, I really enjoyed today.

Hi, Thanks sharing this, I love food.
Thanks for this info, we have booked this tour so are looking forward to it. One question (I know it’s been awhile!!), did you remember what time you were dropped back off in Rome? Was it really late eg 8 or 9pm?
We are travelling with two kids so I was kinda worried that if we arrived back late and then had trouble getting dinner somewhere!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
