Day 1: Contiki South America
So today was the official start of our 9 day Contiki South America tour.Ā Today we took a bus city tour of Peru’s capital and its most populated city, Lima.

Our wonderful tour guide explained to us about many tidbits of Lima and Peruvian culture, including the massive amount of Spanish colonial influence and its numerous vast public squares.
Our guide also told us about the different areas of Lima, how the drivers are crazy and how there is no public transportation only private ones. Crazy to think, when you come from a country like Canada where public transportation is so accessible and relied upon.
One really cool thing I learned was that the reason why the buildings in Lima are so colourful is because the majority of the year is spent in a grey overcast and therefore to liven up the town they decided to paint everything in bright colours.
I’d say it works !
Not quite what I was expecting when I first thought about South America and Peru; however Lima was a very pleasant surprise and I cannot wait for more!
Im only going to comment once because it doesnt matter if you pick me or not. It would be nice but it doesnt matter..

I would love to win a postcard since I already collect them and I haven’t be lucky enough to be able to travel to the places you have been able to.Winning a postcard would help my collection grow at least by a little bit.
That buiding behind you screams YELLOW—Is it really as it looks?
