That Time I Held A Koala

I love zoos. It’s not that I am a particularly big fan of animals in cages, I just love seeing them up close and in person. I believe it stems from my childhood obsession with KrattsCreatures, a kids TV show about animals and nature.

So no doubt I would enjoy the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, a non for profit, 100% Australian animal sanctuary.

The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary was quite a bit different than the last zoo I went to. For one, most of the cages were open pens so you could walk right up and pet the animals .

Second, several of the animals I was looking forward to seeing were sleeping, including the Tasmanian Devil and the Wombat.

Regardless, I got to hold a Koala. It was cute, course haired and kind of stinky, but I held it and it was awesome!

Byron Bay

After lunch we continued on towards Byron Bay for a quick photo-op at Cape Byron, the most easterly point of Australia.

Then it was afternoon beach time complete with fish’n chips from one of the many cute beachside restaurants.
